PMP Training: Resume Session 2
27 May 2024We have started a new PMP training group on 19.05.2024 and decided to share with you every Monday a resume of each session we teach on Sunday.
The training was in Arabic language and the slides where a mix of English and French.
In session 1, we started by introducing the training program and the 9 chapters which are:
- Chapter 1: Business Environment (Fr. Environnement des affaires)
- Chapter 2: Project Stakeholders (Fr. Les parties prenantes)
- Chapter 3: Project Team (Fr. L’équipe projet)
- Chapter 4: Project Development Approaches and Processes (Approche et processus de développement de projet)
- Chapter 5: Project Planning (Planification du projet)
- Chapter 6: Performing Project Work & Procurement Management (Exécution du travail de projet et gestion de l’approvisionnement)
- Chapter 7: Scope & Quality Management (Périmètre et gestion de la qualité)
- Chapter 8: Risk Management & Change Management (Gestion des risques et des changements)
- Chapter 9: Assessing Project Performance (Evaluer la performance de projet)
We have also explained to them the 3 steps in the 4 month program which include 2 month training, 1 month revision and mock exams, and then 1 month free coaching right befor the exam. We have clearly highlighted that preparing for their PMP application starts now and that they must have their applications accepted and exams booked before the end of the first 2 month training.
Then we took the participants on a tour through the Drive, WhatsApp group set-up and the Homework e-mails we will send them after each session.
Introduction to PMP:
In this section we explained what is PMI, PMP exam pre-requisites, ECO and exam domains, exams questions types, exam fees, PMBOK, Talent Triangle, other PMI certifications, Audit process and exam reference list.
Chapter 1: Business Environment
Section 1.1: Overview of Project Management
In this section, we saw:
- Difference between Project and Business, and also between Project and Operation.
- Definition of a Project and its delivrables.
- Project Constraints and Iron Triangle.
- Project Success Criterias.
- The PMO with its 3 types: Supportive, Controlling and Directive.
- Organization Structure Types: Functional, Matrix, Project Oriented, etc.
- Entreprise Environmental Factors and Organizational Process Assets.
- Project Management vs Product Management.
- Project vs Program vs Portfolio.
Section 1.2: Business Case
In this section, we touched a very important subject which is the phase before the project which the study phase, also known as the Business Case.
We explained the origin of project ideas, the different studies (feasibility, technical, economic, organizational, operational, etc), the Value Proposition, the triple bottom line, SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, BMC, and of course the very famous and important Decision Matrix tool.
We have also shown them important complementary videos in our Drive that they can watch about these various topics to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Questions and Answers
The training session then ended with a 45 minute live questions and answers from the participants about what we went through in the session. The participants ask the questions directly through their microphones and in order by raising their hands, and I answer them one by one.
All the sections of this first training session were recorded separately and shared with the participants on the Drive, and the homework e-mail was sent and our coaches started guidig them through the PMP application process and other various points.
